
Gymnastics Scores a 193.725 at Iowa

Iowa City, Iowa - The NC State gymnastics team fell to No. 8 Iowa 196.775-193.725 Saturday afternoon at Iowa. The Wolfpack (5-5) put together very solid showings on both vault and floor earning scores of 48.800 in those two events. However, NC State would struggle on both bars and beam having to count falls on both events.
Freshman Rachel Katz was the Wolfpack's top performer on vault, finishing in fourth place with a career-best score of 9.875. Senior Molly Pennington recorded a 9.775 and was sixth. Senior Leah Sabo and sophomore Kylah Bachman tied each other for eighth with a 9.75.
Over on vault, NC State finished with two gymnasts in the top-three. Sabo and junior Cori Goldstein each put together scores of 9.85 and tied for second place. Seniors Alison Bundy and Marlyn Madey both had a 9.725 and were tied for seventh.
Over on bars, Sabo was the Pack's top finisher with a 9.85 for a fourth place showing. Also on bars, junior Kelley Kello was sixth with a 9.8, and Madey was eighth with her 9.775. Over on beam, Sabo and Kello once again posted the Pack's top two scores. Sabo had a 9.775 for third, and Kello finished with a 9.65 for eithth.
Sabo had a strong day in the all-around, scoring a season-best 39.225 for a second place finish.
The Pack will go on its final road trip in a five-meet road stretch next weekend by competing in the Governor's Cup at Towson.
