NC State Gymnastics Completes Busy Weekend

Morgantown, W.Va. - The NC State gymnastics wrapped up its second away meet of the weekend Sunday afternoon with a score of 193.275 at West Virginia. The Wolfpack (3-3) finished third on the day, with West Virginia coming in first with a 196.250 and No. 21 Ohio State in second with a 195.600. NC State scored well on floor, earning a team score of 48.875, then had over 48.00 on vault and bars, but had to count three falls on beam. Sunday's meet follows Friday night's score of 193.850 at Pittsburgh.
On floor, junior Cori Goldstein had the Wolfpack's top performance. She turned in a score of 9.85 and finished in a tie for third place. Classmate Kelley Kello also scored well, with a 9.8 for sixth place. Senior Marlyn Madey notched a top-10 finish with her 9.775 for eighth place. Freshman Rachel Katz had her best performance on vault, scoring a 9.825 and tied for fourth place. Senior Cheryl Potacco and sophomore Kylah Bachman each scored a 9.8 and tied for sixth.
Over on bars, Katz was once again the NC State's top finisher with her score of 9.8 where she tied teammate Madey for eighth place. For the third straight meet, junior Andrea Petrocelli led the Pack on beam, this time scoring a 9.825 for seventh place.
In the all-around for NC State, Bachman was fifth (38.025) and senior Leah Sabo was sixth (37.600).
NC State will be back on the road next weekend, traveling to Florida to compete against the Gators, Michigan State and Illinois-Chicago.
