
Gymnastics Finishes Second at EAGL Championships

Durham, N.H. - The No. 23 NC State gymnastics team finished second at the 2003 EAGL Championships with a team score of 196.675 Saturday night at New Hampshire. The score sets a new school road for the Wolfpack's (22-6) best road score, and is the third highest score in school history. New Hampshire won the meet on their home floor with a score of 196.750. North Carolina was third (196.025), Maryland and Towson each scored a 195.775 and tied for fourth, West Virginia was sixth (195.650), Pittsburgh seventh (193.975), and Rutgers eighth (193.025).
NC State scored over a 49.00 on all four events for the first time this season. Also, NC State set season highs on vault (49.025) and bars (49.325).
Junior Molly Pennington tied her personal-best on vault and scored a 9.925 to finish in a tie for third place. Juniors Cheryl Potacco and Leah Sabo each notched scores of 9.825 and tied for 13th place. Senior Adina Stock and freshman Kylah Bachman turned in scores of 9.725.
Over on bars, senior Marlyn Madey turned in the Wolfpack's top finish. Madey tied for second place with a score of 9.9. Sabo was close behind in fourth place with her score of 9.875. A trio of Pack gymnasts tied for ninth with scores of 9.85, Bachman, Stock, and senior Stephanie Southard.
Senior Cara Dougherty turned in a score of 9.9 on beam and tied for fourth. Bachman finished in a tie for 10th with her score of 9.875. Sophomore Cori Goldstein was 14th with a score of 9.85. Fellow sophomore Kelley Kello scored a 9.825 for 18th. Madey was the final score of NC State with her 9.775.
Over on floor, Goldstein and junior Alison Bundy each scored a 9.85 and were tied for seventh. Madey was 12th with her score of 9.825, while Kello took 16th (9.8). Sabo and Stock tied for 20th, each scoring a 9.775.
Sabo finished 10th in the all-around with a score of 39.000
