Virginia Hands NC State Volleyball A 3-1 Defeat

Four Virginia players reached double figures in kills to help the Cavaliers snap an eight-match losing streak with a 27-30, 30-22, 33-31, 30-20 victory over NC State on Sunday at UVa's University Hall. With the victory, Virginia improved to 6-12 overall and 2-9 in the ACC, while the Wolfpack fell to 5-13 overall and 1-9 in the ACC.
Outside hitter Jenny Harmon led the Cavaliers with 14 kills and 13 digs, and added four service aces. Outside hitter Andrea Fischer had 13 kills and hit .370. Middle blocker Simona Kuipers hit a team-high .409 with 12 kills and added a team-high five blocks. Middle blocker Shannon Boyle rounded out UVa's quartet of players in double-figure kills with 11, and added seven digs and two service aces.
Senior outside hitter Charece Williams, junior outside hitter Rebecca Anderson and senior middle blocker Alison Kreager led the Wolfpack with nine kills apiece. Williams also had 14 digs for the Wolfpack. Lindi Sheppard dished out 28 assists, and had eight digs and five service aces. Sarah Ensminger contributed eight kills, eight digs and five block assists.
Virginia outhit NC State .218 to .126 and also held a 62-49 advantage in kills. The Wolfpack held a 54-47 edge in digs.
