RALEIGH, N.C. - Kyleen Bell had 16 kills and just three errors in 28 attempts for a .464 hitting percentage to lead Georgia Tech to a four-game victory over NC State in Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball action Tuesday night at Reynolds Coliseum. Bell also had eight digs and a pair of service aces as the Yellow Jackets downed the Wolfpack 30-13, 30-13, 21-30 and 30-17.
The Yellow Jackets, the defending ACC champions and the preseason favorites to repeat, improved to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the ACC. Georgia Tech entered play Tuesday second in the ACC behind North Carolina, which carried a 4-0 league mark into action Tuesday evening vs. Clemson. The Wolfpack fell to 5-7 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
Maja Pachale also had a big night for the Yellow Jackets, recording 15 kills, a .357 hitting percentage, two aces and seven digs. Georgia Tech hit .323 as a team to .069 for the Wolfpack, which lost for the third consecutive match.
Senior outside hitter Charece Williams led NC State with 14 kills, five digs and two blocks, while senior middle blocker Alison Kreager and freshman Melanie Rowe had eight digs apiece. Kreager had six kills and a block.
NC State returns to action Saturday, October 6, with a 7 p.m. match vs. Florida State at Reynolds Coliseum.
