Brandon Howard joined the Wolfpack strength and conditioning staff for football in the spring of 2021 as the Associate Director of Strength And Conditioning.
Prior to joining the NC State staff, Howard spent two years as the associate strength and conditioning coach for Texas Tech’s football squad, where he developed and implemented the redshirt training program and oversaw the training needs for the offensive and defensive lines.
From 2018-19, Howard was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Mississippi. He was in that same role at Utah State for two years as well.
Howard served as the Director of Sports Performance for all sports at Southeastern Louisiana University from 2012-16, overseeing the development needs for 350 athletes from 14 teams. Howard was part of six Southland Conference Championship teams, including back to back titles with SLU Football program in 2013 and 2014.
Prior to his time at SLU, he spent four years as the assistant director of athletic performance at Georgia Southern, where he developed programs for track and field, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s soccer, women’s tennis and golf.
Howard served as a graduate assistant at Utah State in 2007 and 2008, earning his master’s in exercise science in 2009. He earned his undergraduate degree in exercise physiology from East Carolina in 2005 and was a member of the Pirate football squad.
A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) through the National Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, Howard also holds certifications as a Functional Range Movement Specialist (FRCms), Reflexive Performance Reset level 1 practitioner (RPR), Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS), precision nutrition level 1 coach and running mechanics professional level 1 and 2.
A native of Jacksonville, Fla., he and his wife Lauren have three children: son Brody (8) and daughters Lyndon (5), and Henley (3).
