Silver Shines in Wolfpack Debut; Sweeps Stony Brook in Straight Sets

ORLANDO, Fla. – Freshman outside hitter Britni Silver led the Wolfpack with 15 kills in the season opening sweep of Stony Brook Friday afternoon at the Black & Gold Classic hosted by UCF.
The win moves NC State to 1-0 on the season and marked the 37th season opener won in program history.
Set-By-Set Summary
One: The most competitive set of the outing featured nine ties and two lead changes. Stony Brook stayed within striking distance, but NC State pulled away late behind six kills from Silver and four combined blocks from Talia Francom and Jordan Smith. NC State took the set, 25-22.
Two: The Pack exploded offensively, hitting .560 and an 80-percent side out rate. The Seawolves hit a match low .067 in the second set as NC State won, 25-15.
Three: The Wolfpack took control from the start of the set, allowing zero lead changes or ties. The Pack hit .387 while limiting Stony Brook to .075. NC State took the set, 25-15.
