ATLANTA, Ga. – No. 3 Georgia Tech completed the sweep of No. 14 NC State with a 10-0 win in eight innings Sunday afternoon at Mac Nease Baseball Park.
This loss extends the Wolfpack's losing streak to six games, the longest since 2014.
The Wolfpack managed just four hits, all singles, and was swept in ACC play for the first time since 2024 at Louisville.
NC State managed runners in scoring position only three times, leaving six runners on base. They went 2-11 in advancement opportunities, while Georgia Tech was 12-20, batting .500 with runners in scoring position.
Georgia Tech starter Jackson Blakely (2-1) pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits, one walk, and striking out three. He retired 10 straight batters before McHugh singled in the top of the sixth.
Georgia Tech took the lead first for the third straight game with a leadoff double, an error, and a groundout scoring a run. Consiglio limited the damage to just one run after retiring the next three batters.
A pair of home runs increased the lead to 3-0 in the third. The first home run came after a nine-pitch battle, with the second on the first pitch of the at-bat. Georgia Tech broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases with no one out.
Heath Andrews replaced Consiglio, and on his first pitch, a double made it 5-0. Consiglio (2-2) ended his outing after five innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits, with one walk and six strikeouts.
Andrews pitched an inning and two-thirds, giving up three hits, a walk, a run, and striking out one.
Aiden Kitchings, Collins Black, and Tristan Potts also pitched but couldn't slow down the Yellow Jackets' offense, which scored three more in the eighth to complete the run-rule victory.
This is the third time the Wolfpack has been shut out this season.
NC State will return home to start an eight-game homestand at Doak Field on Tuesday, March 31, with a game against Liberty at 6 p.m. on ACCNX.
