RALEIGH – NC State men's soccer has added Augusto Lima to its staff as an assistant coach, as announced by head coach Marc Hubbard on Tuesday.
"I've known Augusto for over four years and have closely followed his growth as a coach during that time", says head coach Marc Hubbard. "He brings a wide range of experiences and a strong understanding of what it takes to develop goalkeepers at a high level, but just as important, he's a genuinely good person. His positive outlook, tireless work ethic, and the way he treats people make him a natural fit for our program and culture at NC State."
Lima joins the Wolfpack after spending the 2025 season with College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. He assisted in the development of the 2025 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Archie Hatcher, as well as two 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District student-athletes.
"You look for more than just a great soccer mind; you look for someone who embodies the values of the program", said Holy Cross head coach Matt Brown. "Coach Lima is a relentless recruiter and a person of high integrity who has a gift for connecting with student-athletes. He will be an incredible asset to NC State and their community, and I wish him all the best in the next chapter of his coaching journey."
Prior to his time with the Crusaders, Lima was at the helm of the program at Clarkson University for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. In that time, he coached eight All-Conference and two All-Region players, accumulating a record of 16-7-9. His team was highlighted by recording an impressive goals against average of 0.76 in 2024 and 0.87 goals against average in 2023.
Lima also previously served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Northeastern University in 2022. In 2021, he was an assistant coach at the University of Rochester, aiding the Yellow Jackets in reaching the NCAA Tournament that year. The two seasons before that were spent at Bucknell University as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. His coaching career began as an assistant at his alma mater, Susquehanna University, for the 2018 and 2017 seasons.
As a four-year member of the Susquehanna program, Lima was the starting goalkeeper during his junior and senior seasons. In total, he made 27 starts and recorded a 1.20 goals against average in just shy of 2,500 career minutes, collecting 102 saves with 11 wins and nine shutouts.
The native of Campinas, Brazil, earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2016 from Susquehanna. He carries a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 3 Diploma and a United Soccer Coaches Federation D License.
"I am motivated and humbled to join NC State Men's Soccer at such a historic moment", says Augusto Lima. "Having admired Coach Hubbard's vision and leadership, I am thrilled to get to work with and learn from him and his staff. The bar is set high, but I am committed and excited to push our student athletes to reach their full potential while assisting the program in its pursuit of ACC and NCAA championships."
