Pack Falls in OT to Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind.. – The NC State men's basketball team (19-10, 10-6 ACC) fell in overtime to Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon inside Purcell Pavilion.
NC State never trailed in regulation and had multiple nine point leads in the game, including a 79-70 advantage with 4:46 left in regulation, but Notre Dame ended the second period on an 11-2 run to force overtime.
In overtime, Notre Dame took its first lead of the game on a Cole Certa three-pointer a little over a minute into overtime. NC State tied the game back up on its next possession on a Paul McNeil, Jr., three-pointer, but Certa made another three on ND's next possession and the Pack was never able to catch the Irish again.
NC State shot just 2-for-11 from the field in overtime, including 1-of-8 from three-point range, as the Pack was outscored 15-9 in the extra period.
Ven-Allen led NC State with a season-high 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field and 8-of-9 shooting from the foul line. He added a team-high 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season.
Quadir Copeland added 17 points and nine assists while Darrion Williams had 17 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Certa led Notre Dame with a game-high 32 points and Jalen Haralson came off-the-bench to add 25 points and nine rebounds.
NC State took a 44-38 lead into halftime after a hot-shooting opening 20 minutes for both teams. NC State shot 60.7 percent from the field and made seven of its 12 three-point attempts, but Notre Dame nearly match the Pack's shooting efficiency as the Fighting Irish shot 56 percent from the field and made six of its 13 three-point attempts. NC State forced Notre Dame into nine first half turnovers and had a 10-0 advantage in points off turnovers.
NC State has a quick turnaround to its next game as it will host top-ranked Duke (27-2, 15-1 ACC) on Monday night inside a sold out Lenovo Center. Tipoff against the Blue Devils is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN.
