Pack the Park, Not the Landfill: Composting Comes to Doak Field
2/27/2026 10:00:00 AM | Pack Athletics
Raleigh, NC - NC State Baseball fans have another reason to cheer this season and it's not just what's happening on the field.
As part of NC State Athletics' sustainability goals, front-of-house and back-of-house composting is officially implemented at Doak Field at Dail Park for the 2026 baseball season. This expanded effort is powered by the Zero Waste Wolfpack, a team of student leaders helping make game days more sustainable.
Last season, the Zero Waste Wolfpack supported one home baseball game and collected 100 pounds of compost. This year, the goal is big: 3,000 pounds of compost across all 35 home games.Â
How Fans Can Get Involved
Fans play a huge role in making this effort a success. New composting infrastructure around the ballpark makes participation easy:
-
Five new compost bins on the concourse for fan use
-
Four paper towel compost bins in concourse restrooms
-
Composting added to new building renovations, allowing players and staff to participate too
Not sure what goes where? Just look at the bin signage or ask someone in a gray Zero Waste Wolfpack t-shirt, they're happy to help you compost and recycle correctly.
Be the Change on Game Day
Be the Change on game day! Support the Zero Waste Wolfpack by sorting your waste at the concourse zero waste stations and helping ensure compost at Doak Field is here to stay.
Together, we can pack the park, and keep waste out of the landfill.
