Pierre Tabbed to Jersey Mike’s Naismith Women’s College Player of the Year Late-Season Watchlist

ATLANTA – Khamil Pierre of the NC State women's basketball team has been tabbed to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Late-Season Watchlist. Pierre is one of 30 on the list, which was narrowed down from 50 at the start of the season. She is one of three players from the ACC on the list.
Pierre averages a team-leading 16.5 points and 12.1 rebounds per game on a career-high .534 field goal percentage. She has 23 double-digit scoring games, seven 20+ point games, 18 double-digit rebounding games and 17 double-doubles. Her double-doubles are the fourth most in a single season in school history and her 302 rebounds mark the 13th most.
She leads the ACC in rebounds per game and double-doubles and is fourth in scoring and sixth in field goal percentage in the lead. Her double-double total is the third most in the NCAA, while she averages the seventh most rebounds per game and defensive rebounds per game (8.7) in the country.
This season, Pierre was named the Ro Greensboro Invitational Most Outstanding Player after beginning her Wolfpack debut with 21 points, 14 rebounds and three steals. Pierre was the Cancun Challenge Yucatan MVP, averaging 15.0 points and 18.5 rebounds per game in the two wins, including pulling down 21 rebounds against Green Bay. Her 21 boards marked the third most in a game in school history.
In ACC play, Pierre averages 17.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. She logged a season-high 26 points twice against Wake Forest and Louisville and also had 25 points and 12 rebounds at Virginia Tech.
Pierre has accumulated 1,358 points, 785 rebounds, 127 assists and 151 steals in her career.
The watchlist will be trimmed to semifinalists before the finalists will be announced during the Women's Final Four.
NC State will face No. 9 Duke on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at Cameron Indoor. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
