Wolfpack Beats High Point in Exhibition

RALEIGH – The NC State women's basketball team defeated High Point, 72-53, in an exhibition game Thursday night. All 11 available players saw time on the court, including five newcomers.
NC State recorded 12 steals, including six in the first quarter. The Pack scored 26 points off High Point's 18 turnovers.
Khamil Pierre picked up where she left off a year ago, leading the Pack with a double-double behind 19 points, 12 rebounds and five steals with just one turnover.
NC State dominated the first quarter, leading High Point 27-8 after the opening frame. The Pack used a 20-0 run midway through the first to take a 20-point lead just six minutes into the game. HPU clawed back to outscore NC State 17-11 in the second quarter, but NC State led 38-25 at halftime. Khady Leye scored 12 first-half points.
The Pack outscored the Panthers 20-13 in the third quarter and used a 14-2 run to close out the quarter to extend its lead to 20, 58-38, at the end of the frame. Qadence Samuels was held scoreless in the first half, but logged 11 points, going 4-of-5 from the field in the third.
NC State took down the Panthers 72-53.
PACK PERFORMERS
- NC State had four double-digit scorers and seven scored points
- Pierre led the Pack with 19 points off 8-of-14 from the field with 12 rebounds and five steals in 23 minutes
- Leye logged 12 points off 4-of-11 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. She added four boards and two steals
- Ky'She Lunan got the start and ended with 11 points, four rebounds, two steals and one block
- Samuels registered a near double-double with 11 points with nine rebounds and one block
- NC State outrebounded High Point 53-46 and logged 12 steals
NC State will play one more public exhibition on Saturday, Oct. 24 against UNCW at Reynolds Coliseum. That game is also free and open to the public.
