Anthony Carter, Jr. Named Semifinalist for 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy

IRVING, Texas – NC State offensive guard Anthony Carter, Jr. is one of 177 semifinalists for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy. The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced today.
Celebrating its 36th year, the Campbell Trophy® recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance, and exemplary leadership.
Carter, who graduated from NC State in May 2024 with a degree in communication and a minor in media studies, is currently pursuing his Master's in Liberal Studies. Carter was a member of the ACC All-Academic Football Team in 2024, 2023, and 2022, and made the ACC Academic Honor Roll all five years at State.
The Wolfpack captain is the most experienced returning offensive player on the team for 2025, with 1,773 career snaps (not including special teams). Tallied 35 knockdown blocks in 2024, 68 for his career. Tallied a team-high 20 Raleigh Railroads in '24 (sustained blocks). The Wolfpack has qualified for a bowl game every year of Anthony's career.
Founding member and leader of "Pack Shop" – a group of minority student-athletes who come together to discuss life, how to navigate various issues and other topics; Yearly speaker for the USC 101 class for freshman student-athletes to help them learn to manage their time, overcome homesickness, and learn to be good teammates; Served a team representative on the Leadership Council two seasons; Frequent volunteer for football community service (Habitat for Humanity); Attended the "O-Line Mastermind Summit" in the summer of 2025 in Texas (meet and learn from legendary and current NFL offensive lineman, discuss techniques with current collegiate linemen).
The Charlotte, N.C. native is a multimedia artist in his spare time. He was featured on ESPN/ACC Network for his artwork memorializing George Floyd.
The NFF will announce 12-16 finalists on Oct. 22, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2025 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments. The finalists will travel to the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas for the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner, presented by Las Vegas, on December 9, where their accomplishments will be highlighted in front of one of the most powerful audiences in all of sports. During the event, one member of the class will be declared the winner of the 36th Campbell Trophy and have their postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000.
Nominated by their schools, which are limited to one nominee each, candidates for the awards must be a senior who will complete his final year of eligibility in the 2025 season or a graduate student or graduate transfer who has already earned a degree and is participating in the 2025 season; have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale; have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor; and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. The class is selected each year by the NFF Awards Committee, which is comprised of a nationally recognized group of media, NFF College Football Hall of Famers, and athletics administrators.
