Smith Has Career Performance in Sweep Over Cleveland State

RALEIGH, N.C. – Freshman opposite Jordan Smith recorded a career high 17 kills on a .438 hitting percentage to lead the NC State volleyball team in a straight set win over Cleveland State Saturday evening at the Wolfpack Invitational in Reynolds Coliseum.

The Wolfpack will return to Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday, September 14 for the final match of the Wolfpack Invitational. The Pack will face Coastal Carolina at 4pm on ACCNX.

- The Wolfpack was hot from first serve as it jumped out to a 5-2 lead.
- Cleveland State struggled to find a weak spot in the Pack's defense. The Vikings only score nine kills before the Wolfpack took the first set, 25-18.
- Smith was a force to be reckoned with from the beginning as she led all scorers with seven kills.
- The Vikings found some momentum to begin the second set as it jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held the lead until the Wolfpack tied the set 15-all. NC State close out the second set on a 10-6 scoring run to take the frame, 25-21.
- NC State jumped out to an early lead in the final frame that the Vikings couldn't overcome. Smith continued to dominate as she tied her career high 15 kills on the Pack's 18th point. She went on to record two more kills to mark a new career high of 17 kills on a .438 hitting percentage.
- Senior middle blocker Lily Cropper tallied two service aces in the final set to mark a new career high of five.
- The Wolfpack took the final set, 25-19 to claim its sixth win of the season and sixth under head coach Megan Wargo-Kearney. The win also marked the 821st in program history.
The Wolfpack will return to Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday, September 14 for the final match of the Wolfpack Invitational. The Pack will face Coastal Carolina at 4pm on ACCNX.
