RALEIGH – Fifth-ranked NC State men's soccer collected its sixth straight shutout and improved to 6-0-1 (0-0-1 ACC) from a 2-0 win over FAU (4-2) Saturday night.
Another clean sheet from Wolfpack goalkeeper Logan Erb totals six games with six shutouts, now making NC State just one of four schools in the NCAA, and the last in the ACC, to concede a goal this season.
Erb had a crucial save in the 63rd minute that was quickly followed up with another shot that rocketed over the crossbar.
The first half remained scoreless, but quickly out of the gate, just two minutes into the second half, Tyler Caton serviced a corner-kick that found Nikola Markovic's head and then the back of the net to ease NC State worries with a lead.
Later on in the 76th minute, Taig Healy crossed a ball in from the left side that Markovic first attempted to shoot but was directed to Donavan Phillip to head into the net and set a firm lead for the Pack, 2-0.
Markovic, a sophomore defender, repped the captain band for the first time on the field while collecting his four points from the goal and the assist.
