RALEIGH – Marie Eline Madsen of the NC State women's golf team has been selected to Golfweek's 2025-26 Women's College Golf Preseason All-America Third Team, as announced on Thursday. Madsen is one of 30 collegiate golfers chosen to one of the three All-America teams.
Madsen is coming off a stellar freshman season, in which she broke the school record for lowest scoring average in a season (71.23) and recorded 22 rounds at par or better, 11 rounds in the 60s and eight top 10 finishes with 11 top 20 outings. The Denmark product was tabbed a WGCA Second Team All-America choice, becoming the first player in school history to earn All-America first or second team honors, as well as Golfweek All-America Third Team honors and an All-ACC Women's Golf Team selection.
Continuing to climb the collegiate and amateur ranks, Madsen finished the season at No. 26 in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd Rankings and is currently ranked No. 32 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Madsen began her collegiate career with a 3-under 210 for sixth place at the Cougar Classic and continued to heat up throughout the season. She was the runner-up at the Daniel Island Invitational with a career-low 11-under 205, which broke a freshman 54-hole record and was the second lowest 54-hole score in school history.
Madsen picked up two wins last season, coming at the ECU Ironwood Invitational behind a 6-under 210, and then at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional to be the first NC State women's golfer to win an NCAA Regional. She ended the season at the NCAA Championship, competing as an individual for the Pack.
Over the summer, Madsen made it to the quarterfinals of the Women's Amateur Championship and finished sixth in the Q-Tour Himmerland, a LET Access Tour event. She also represented the Denmark National Team at the European Ladies Team and Amateur Championships.
Madsen and the No. 29 Pack women's golf team are set to tee off the 2025-26 season on Sept. 8-9 for the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club.
