Negrete and Volk earn ACC Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Chloe Negrete has been named ACC Gymnast of the Week, while teammate Caroline Volk has been named ACC Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Negrete delivered an exceptional performance during NC State's final home meet of the season on Friday. She earned a podium finish in all of her events, including a matched career high of 9.850 on vault, which earned her second place, and impressive 9.975 scores on both beam and floor, securing individual titles in each event. Her 9.975 on floor was a matched career high, while her 9.975 on beam marked a new career best. Negrete's performances helped NC State achieve season-high event scores of 49.350 on beam and 49.425 on floor. Throughout the season, she has been a consistent force, delivering team-high scores in the anchor position on floor and beam, contributing to NC State's two victories this weekend. On Sunday, Negrete competed in NC State's meet against Texas Woman's University, where she claimed two individual victories with a 9.900 on beam and a 9.875 on floor, both in the anchor position.
Volk earned her first career victory on bars with a strong performance, sticking her dismount for a 9.925. She continued her momentum by competing on beam for the third time this season, where she earned her second podium finish with a 9.900, taking second place. Volk returned to action on Sunday at Texas Woman's University, where she became the bars champion again after matching her career high of 9.925. Volk's efforts were pivotal in NC State's undefeated weekend over No. 23 Ohio State and Texas Woman's University. She also helped the team to season-high event scores of 49.350 on beam and 49.425 on floor.
