Three members of the Pack tallied double-digit kills in the outing: Rebecca Ring (14), Courtney Bryant (11), and Jordan Smith (11).

Notre Dame was hot in sets two and three. The Irish took the second set, 25-20, after holding NC State to a negative hitting efficiency (-0.056). The Irish would later take the third set, 25-21, after finding success from the service line as it aced the Pack four times.

The Wolfpack battled back to take the fourth set, 25-18. The roles were reversed in the frame as Notre Dame out-killed the Pack, 14-12, but NC State still held a higher hitting efficiency (.200). Ring led all scorers in the fourth frame with four kills as senior middle blocker Lily Cropper had a pair of service aces.
The fifth set was controlled by the Irish, as it jumped out to a 5-1 lead. The Wolfpack rallied back with a 4-0 scoring run to tie it four-all, but the momentum came to an end when Notre Dame responded with a 7-2 scoring run after the media timeout to close out the frame on top, 15-7.
