RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State Gymnastics and head coach Kim Landrus have announced the signings of four incoming freshmen to the 2026 recruiting class. Set to arrive in Raleigh ahead of the 2027 season are Emily Brown, Christina Shelton, Maggie Waterstreet, and Grace Weisser.
"This class is one that truly complements each other," said Landrus. "Emily, Christina, Maggie and Grace together bring athleticism, beauty, power and skill that will continue to advance NC State Gymnastics both in the ACC and on the national stage. The four of them are great students, competitive young women, and passionate about being part of the PACK. We are excited to officially welcome them to our family!"
"These four have been part of competitive success within their club programs throughout their careers and now they are bringing that competitiveness to Raleigh. They are driven to succeed and each of them have special talents and unique strengths that collectively will elevate our program."
"Lastly, it's the person behind the athlete that will build upon the culture of our program, place a vast amount of importance on being scholar-athletes, and become great representatives of our gymnastics program and NC State Athletics."
Emily Brown - Ocoee, Florida
Brown competes with Orlando Metro Gymnastics–Lake Mary and brings an accomplished resume to Raleigh. Her standout 2025 season included top five finishes on vault, bars, floor and all-around at the Florida State Championships. She was also crowned 2024 Level 9 Eastern Nationals champion on bars, floor, and all-around, in addition to winning the same three titles at 2024 Level 9 Regionals.
"Emily was the final piece of our puzzle in this signing class," Landrus continued. "Her passion and untapped potential shines bright with every call. Every update we receive from Emily makes our coaching staff more excited as she is a consistent and fluid bar worker and has power and grace on the other events. Her character and appreciation for this opportunity exudes 'something special' that I am so excited to watch blossom over her four-year career."
Brown said she chose NC State because it immediately felt like the right fit.
"I chose NC State because of the strong team culture, experienced coaches, and the opportunities it offers in both academics and athletics," said Brown. "I can really see my future there and feel it's where I belong."
Christina Shelton - Marietta, Georgia
Shelton trains at Top Notch Training Gym and will arrive in Raleigh as a well-decorated competitor during her club career. A two-time Level 10 National Qualifier (2022, 2025), she captured 2025 Regional and Georgia State titles on vault, beam, and all-around. Shelton is also a 2024 Senior Elite Qualifier and 2022 Jr. Elite US Classics Qualifier. At the 2022 American Classics, she won the bars title and finished third in the all-around.
"Known for her power on vault and floor, but not to be overlooked by her difficulty on bars and beam as well, Christina is an all-arounder that will shine bright in the collegiate setting," said Landrus. "She has a competitive character and sets high expectations for herself that will only drive her to succeed further. Her personality and deep appreciation for what it means to be a student-athlete will propel her to make an immediate impact on our program."
Shelton said the program instantly felt like home.
"I chose NC State because the moment I stepped on campus, it truly felt like home," Shelton mentioned. "The campus is beautiful, and the coaches see you as an individual, not just as a gymnast. From my first time meeting the team, I could feel the strong, supportive culture and the genuine bond they share. NC State also provides an amazing academic environment that will help me grow both as a student and an athlete. People always say, 'You'll know your school home when you feel it,' and I definitely felt it at NC State. I can't wait to learn, grow, and compete for the Wolfpack!"
Maggie Waterstreet - Powell, Ohio
Waterstreet joins the Pack after competing for Gym X-Treme in Ohio. Her 2024 season featured a Level 10 National Qualification, Level 10 Regional all-around and floor titles, and a Level 10 vault state championship.
"Maggie is a natural vaulter that will stand out immediately with pop and power," said Landrus. "She has consistently worked hard to continue building on every event after a small setback in her junior season. Her drive and determination during this time spoke volumes! I am confident this 'never give up' attitude will allow her to continue to excel both on and off the competition floor."
Waterstreet said NC State offered everything she was looking for.
"NC State felt like home from the beginning," said Waterstreet. "With the family-like atmosphere, supportive coaching staff, and endless resources both academically and athletically, I knew it was a place that I would succeed in and out of the gym!"
Grace Weisser - Stillwater, Minnesota
Weisser comes from Flips Gymnastics in Minnesota and brings strong bars and all-around credentials. She is a three-time Level 10 National Qualifier (2023-25) and a two-time Level 10 Regional bars champion (2024, 2025). She also finished top 10 on bars at the 2025 National Championships.
"Grace's recruitment was one in which the more you got to know her, the more you knew she would be a GREAT fit for the PACK," Landrus mentioned. "She is a natural swinger on bars with a wide variety of skill selection and a consistent all-arounder that does not have a weak event. Her competitive composure is an intangible strength that will allow her continued success at the NCAA level."
Weisser said the team's family atmosphere made her decision easy.
"I chose NC State because of the home-like environment within the coaches and the team," Weisser stated.
With the addition of Brown, Shelton, Waterstreet, and Weisser, Landrus said the future of the program remains bright as the Pack prepares for the coming seasons.
"I am thrilled to officially welcome these four to our PACK family! Their journey as part of the PACK is just beginning and we are excited to watch them grow over their entire NCAA careers," Landrus concluded.
