
Women’s Basketball Wins Exhibition vs. High Point

RALEIGH – The No. 9 NC State women's basketball team took down High Point Saturday night.
Over two weeks out from tipoff, the teams took part in a preseason exhibition, and the Pack won 77-69 vs. a High Point team that is picked to win the Big South and made the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
NC State was led by Tilda Trygger, who logged a double-double behind 15 points and 12 rebounds. Qadence Samuels had a strong unofficial showing with 14 points, eight rebounds and one steal.
The Pack held a slim 21-19 lead after the first quarter, scoring 12 of those 21 from beyond the arc and five from the free throw line. In the second half, the Panthers outscored the Pack by five to lead NC State 41-38 at the half.
The Pack used an 8-0 run midway through the third quarter and off a Destiny "Ky'She" Lunan 3-pointer, the Pack extended to a 59-50 lead. After a Zamareya Jones 3-pointer, NC State led 60-50 after the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter Samuels made a layup through contact to convert a 3-point play and give the Pack a 13-point lead, its largest of the night, with 8:57 left in the game. HPU cut into the lead with back-to-back 3-pointers, but a 6-0 run, all by Jones, helped the Pack's lead go back up to 13, 69-56. HPU cut the lead to six, but the Pack went on to win, 77-69.
PACK PERFORMERS
- Trygger led the Pack with a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double
- Samuels recorded a double-digit outing on the night with 14 points and eight boards
- Jones rounded out the scorers in double figures with 12 points while also leading the way with five assists and four steals
- Devyn Quigley led the bench unit with nine points on 3-of-5 shooting and a pair of made free throws
- As a team, the Pack shot 38.9 percent (7-of-18) from three and 75 percent (12-of-16) from the free throw line

NC State will face Maryland in an exhibition at First Horizon Coliseum on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. The game will be a doubleheader with the men, who will play South Carolina at 4 p.m, and tickets can be purchased HERE.
