Two Wolfpack Golfers Finish in Top Five
RALEIGH - The NC State Men's Golf team wrapped up the final round of the Stitch Intercollegiate on Saturday, finishing the tournament in a tie for second place with 13th-ranked Notre Dame.
Hosted by the Wolfpack at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course, NC State was led by Maximilian Steinlechner and Easton Paxton who each finished the week with three-under par scores of 213 in the final round.
After the opening day of competition was halted prematurely due to darkness on Friday, the Pack finished round two of competition Saturday morning before beginning round three. Both Steinlechner and Paxton finished the second round with under-par scores of 71 and 70, respectively.
Steinlechner and Paxton each finished in a tie for second place, which served as Steinlechner's third top-five finish and his second runner-up finish of the season, while Paxton's performance was his best finish of the year and his second top-five finish thus far.
Additionally, Carter Graf earned his second-consecutive top-20 finish, finishing with a 72 (E) in round two and a 73 (+1) in round three.
Ethan Choi was one of just three players in the field to fire a round under 70 on the weekend, with a round-three 68 (-4) on Saturday. Choi's 68 was his second-lowest 18-hole score of the season.
Rounding out the team scoring was Spencer Oxendine, whose Saturday scores of 74 (+2) in round two and 79 (+7) in round three were enough to place him in a tie for 51st place.
