MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – NC State men's soccer (4-5-2) secured a point in Tuesday night's road match at College of Charleston (4-4-4) as the teams ended the non-conference face-off in a 0-0 draw.
The shutout marked the fifth of the season for the Wolfpack squad. Sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios has now been responsible for four of those clean sheets, as he made saves on all three of the Cougars' shots on goal in the match.
The Pack controlled the majority of the match, owning 60 percent of the possession and firing off 11 shots to the Cougars' five.
NC State and College of Charleston went to the halftime break even with no score. In the opening 45 minutes, the Wolfpack out-shot the Cougars by a 6-4 margin. The teams each had two shots on target in the first half, and Wolfpack sophomore Luke Hille also came close to opening it up in the 21st minute with a close-range, left-footed strike from 12 yards out that went off the crossbar.
The story was similar in the second half with NC State allowing just one College of Charleston shot in the latter period. Junior Nare came up with another good attempt, knocking down a cross and ripping a shot to the upper middle of the goal that was knocked away by the Cougar keeper.
NC State will play its final three home games of the 2022 regular season coming up in a row. The Pack kicks off that stretch on Friday, Oct. 14 with an 8 p.m. nationally-televised matchup against rival North Carolina.
