NC State wins all 10 matches, six for bonus points
DURHAM, N.C. – The fifth-ranked NC State Wrestling team traveled over to Duke to its first ACC dual of the season, and the Wolfpack won all 10 matches for a 43-0 shutout of the Blue Devils. Among the 10 wins, the Pack had five for bonus with a pair of pins.
The dual started at 125 pounds, and the Pack scored 17 of a possible 18 team points in the first three bouts. #15 Jakob Camacho scored a pin 6:16 into his bout, #17 Kai Orine followed with a 17-2 second-period tech fall, and #23 Ryan Jack received a forfeit and three team points at 141 pounds.
In one of the best battles of the season, #3 Tariq Wilson used a takedown with just 15 seconds left to score a 4-3 win over #13 Finesilver at 149 pounds.
#10 Ed Scott gave up the first two takedowns, then scored 19 straight points for a 19-4 tech fall win. The Pack was up 25-0 at the halfway point.
At 165 pounds, #22 Thomas Bullard used a takedown in the first, a reversal in the second, and 2:27 of ride time for a 5-0 decision.
The second ranked battle took place at 174 pounds, #3 Hayden Hidlay used a takedown in both the first and third periods for a 6-3 decision over #15 Finesilver. The win was #100 for Hidlay, the sixth NC State wrestler to reach the century mark.
The second pin of the night came for the Pack at 184 pounds, as #3 Trent Hidlay needed just 24 seconds to end his bout early.
#20 Isacc Trumble used a second period ride out and 1:47 of ride time to claim a 1-0 win. Heavyweight Tyrie Houghton closed the dual with a takedown in the third period and 2:36 of ride time for a 4-1 decision.
Up Next: The Pack will return to Reynolds Coliseum next weekend, as NC State will host Virginia. The ACC dual will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
