NC State finishes NCAA finals in a tie for 24th place

STILLWATER, OKLA. – The NC State men's golf team finished in a tie for 24th place at the NCAA Championship held at Karsten Creek.
The result ended the Pack's season as only the top 15 teams made the cut to Monday's conclusion of stroke play.
Benjamin Shipp led NC State in the finals, finishing in a tie for 83rd place at nine-over par. The Duluth, Ga., native finished the championship with a scorecard of 70-76-79.
Stephen Franken was next for the Pack in a tie for 107th place at 12-over par. The ACC Player of the Year finished with a three round total of 75-76-77.
Easton Paxton finished his freshman campaign in a tie for 137th place at 17-over par. The lone freshmen on NC State's roster, Paxton carded a 76-78-79 at the NCAA Championships.
Nolan Mills, Jr., did not compete in round one for the Pack, but the junior had the best round of the day for NC State on Sunday as he shot a one-under par 71 and finished his two rounds at the finals at two-over par.
Harrison Rhoades shot a 75 on Sunday after shooting a 71 on Friday in the first round.
Justin Hood did not compete on Sunday, but shot a 78 on Friday and 76 on Saturday.
The field was cut to the top 15 teams and the top nine individuals not on an advancing team after Sunday's round. The remaining teams and individuals will begin the final round of stroke play Monday morning with the day's first tee time set for 11:30 a.m. CT, with the NCAA individual champion to be crowned tomorrow night.
The Pack finished the first season under head coach Press McPhaul with two tournament victories and advanced to the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2011.
