NC State has third diver advance to finals this week
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Freshman James Brady of the NC State diving team finished 12th in the men's three-meter competition on Wednesday afternoon at the Tennessee Diving Invitational inside the Jones Aquatic Center.
His performance marked the third diver the Wolfpack has had advance to the finals this week, as Madeline Kline and Stewart Spanbauer both finished 12th on Tuesday in their respective events.
In the prelims Brady finished sixth with a score of 328.50, and posted a mark of 307.25 in the finals.
"Today was a decent day for us on the boards. I was very happy with James, he was very consistent and solid in his battle to get into the finals. If you compare that to the SEC he would have made an 'A' final in one of the toughest diving conferences in the country. I'm also impressed with Stewart and his consistency today," said head coach Yahya Radman.
"On the women's side there's work to be done and we have some growing to do. A lot of it has to do with underclassmen nerves and learning what to do in this type of situation. Tomorrow is a new day and new chapter and we'll see how it goes. We have three more opportunities of competition after this invite to see where we are leading up to the championship season."
Spanbauer earned his second top 20 finish of the week, as he took 19th overall in the three-meter dive with a score of 302.60. Harrison Mitchell also finished 21st in the final standings with a mark of 276.60.
In the women's one-meter dive Kline was the top finisher for the Pack as she took 28th with a score of 229.95, while Bailey Revels finished 42nd with a score of 195.40.
NC State will wrap up competition Thursday at the Tennessee Diving Invite on men's and women's platform, which is slated to start at 11 a.m.
