No. 41 NC State Falls to No. 23 FSU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In its final away match of the year, the No. 41 NC State men's tennis team fell to No. 23 Florida State, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The Wolfpack falls to 17-12 (5-6 ACC) and FSU moves to 16-7 (8-3 ACC).

Match Recap:
NC State was edged in doubles point as the Seminoles took matches at the second and third courts. Simon Norenius and Thomas Weigel came up big for the Pack in doubles play again, as the team defeated the 19^th-ranked duo of Benjamin Lock and Marco Nunez. It marks the highest-ranked team the duo has defeated this spring. It is also the third win in a row and the ninth win of the season for the duo.

In singles FSU increased its lead with straight-set wins at the fifth and fourth singles spots. The Seminoles clinched the match with a win on court three over Nick Horton.

FSU also added straight-set wins over Ivan Saveljic and No. 55 Simon Norenius.

No. 119 Thomas Weigel was the only Wolfpacker to go to three sets. The senior won the first and then fell in the final two sets, including a tiebreaker in the third. Weigel's attempt at the school record of 23 wins in a season must wait until at least the ACC Championships. He is currently tied for second in school history with 21 wins this spring season.
