
@PackWrestle Claims Five Titles at Wolfpack Open

RALEIGH, N.C. - The ninth-ranked NC State wrestling team claimed titles in five of the 10 weight classes at the Wolfpack Open on Sunday. In addition to its five champions, the Pack also placed seven into the finals, 14 to the semifinals and 19 to the quarterfinals.
133 - R-So. Sean Fausz, currently ranked #18 nationally, won the 133 pound weight class with a 5-3 OT win over teammate R-So. Jamal Morris in the finals. Fausz was a perfect 5-0 on the day, outscoring his opponents a combined 58-8, as he scored two tech fall wins and a major decision. Advancing to the finals, Morris had a pin and two tech falls.
141 - Jr. Kevin Jack, currently ranked #7 nationally, won the 141 pound weight class with a 6-1 win over Jack Mutchnik of American in the finals. Jack was also a perfect 5-0 on the day, outscoring his foes 57-5, with two tech fall wins and a major decision.
157 - Fr. Hayden Hidlay, who is redshirting this season, claimed his second collegiate title in as many attempts this season. Earlier this month, Hidlay also won the 157 pound weight class at the Southeast Open. Today, Hidlay won all five of his matches - picking up a pin, a tech fall and a major decision victory among his wins. In the finals, Hidlay downed Mitch Finesilver of Duke, 6-2.
184 - R-Jr. Michael Macchiavello, currently ranked #18 nationally, claimed top honors at 184 pounds with a perfect 4-0 mark. Starting with an 11-0 major decision, Macchiavello then scored a pin and a 6-3 win to advance to the finals. In the championship match, Macchiavello came away with a 7-4 win over #17 Chip Ness of North Carolina.
197 - Sr. Pete Renda, also redshirting this season, wrestled up a weight and claimed top honors at 197 pounds. In the finals, Renda defeated Ricky Robertson of Wisconsin, 3-2.
285 - R-Sr. Mike Kosoy reached the finals at 285 pounds before falling to #16 Jacob Kasper. Kosoy went 4-1 on the day, and picked up a pair of pins and a tech fall victory.
Redshirt senior Sam Speno (149), redshirt junior Brian Hamann (165), freshman Nick Reenan (174), and redshirt sophomore Malik McDonald (197) each placed third. Freshmen Tommy Cox (125) and Thomas Bullard (165), along with redshirt freshman Tyler Johnson (197) all placed fourth.
