NC State (1-1-1) rolled to a 4-0 victory on Friday night over Cleveland State (2-1) at Dail Soccer Stadium in front of 790 fans.
MOMENTS OF THE MATCH
10': Zach Knudson put the Pack ahead 1-0 early on assists from Travis Wannemuehler and Ade Taiwo. The pair of Wannemuehler and Taiwo moved the ball upfield to Knudson, who wrecking-balled his way through traffic, delivering a shot to the crossbar that ricocheted home.
34': Nick Surkamp supplied the goal to give NC State the breathing room it craved. Knudson took a hit crossing midfield, dishing to Ryan Peterson, who operated a two-man offense with Surkamp in the box against a bevy of Viking defenders. Peterson found Surkamp on the left side, and the redshirt senior deposited his first goal of the year along the ground to the bottom right corner.
85': Surkamp sealed the deal with his second score of the night, a nifty chip shot over the keeper from 10 yards away, assisted by Philip Carmon.
86': Peterson found the back of the net to set the final at 4-0. Knudson created the opportunity with an assist, and Peterson took full advantage with a crisp strike past the keeper.
