
Men's Tennis Concludes Play at Duke Fab Four Invitational

CARY, N.C. - Senior Sean Weber and sophomore Thomas Weigel each earned victories Sunday, as the NC State men's tennis team concluded play at the Duke Fab Four Invitational at Cary Tennis Park.
Weigel defeated Elon's Jordan Kaufman in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2, to capture the win, while Weber posted a victory in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, over Wake Forest's Nicky Kunz. In the same draw, junior Robbie Mudge fell to UNC's Oystein Steiro in the third-place match, 6-3, 6-2.
In the blue draw, junior Austin Powell fought hard before falling in the third-place match to Wake Forest's Anthony Delcore, 6-3, 7-6 (5), while UNC's Johan Skattum edged junior Beck Bond, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5, in the fifth-place match.
In the white draw, freshman Nick Horton faced his second consecutive top-30 opponent in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings in Duke's 26th-ranked Fred Saba. A native of Sydney, Australia, Horton forced a decisive third set, before falling to the top-seeded Saba, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
The Wolfpack will continue its season Sept. 20-22 at the UVA Ranked + 1 in Charlottesville, Va.
