Kornegay-Gober 9th at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – Junior Kris Kornegay-Gober, ACC indoor champion in the high jump, finished ninth at The Penn Relays in that event on Saturday.
Kornegay-Gober had a mark of 6-feet, 11.50-inches on the final day of competition at Franklin Field.
The Wolfpack won a three overall events at the three-day meet, with redshirt freshman Tremanisha Taylor winning the championship division in the discus and the college division of the shot put. Sophomore Lacey Shuman won the college division of the high jump.
On Sunday, a large contingent of Wolfpack distance runners, including two 2011 All-Americans, will compete at Stanford’s Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
Last year, Ryan Hill broke the ACC and NC State record in the 5,000 meters in this race, finishing third in a field of top-level collegiate and post-collegiate runners.
Hill and fellow NCAA qualifier Andrew Colley will join teammates Patrick Campbell, Adam Henken, Brian Himelright, Bobby Moldovan, Matt Sonnenfeldt and Sandy Roberts in various sections of the 5,000 meters at the late Sunday evening meet. Greg Dame run in the men’s 1,500 meters.
All-American Kenyetta Iyevbele and Tiayonna Blackmon will compete in the women’s 1,500 meters, while Erin Mercer and Samantha Norman will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
