Major Takes 2nd, 4th in Sprints

CHARLOTTE -- Sophomore Benjamin Major III was second in the finals of the 200-meter dash in 21.35 seconds and fourth in the 100-meters with a personal-best time of 10.56 seconds on the final day of UNC Charlotte's 49er Classic Saturday afternoon.
Major was also part of the 4 X 100 relay team, along with senior A'Tolani Akinkuotu, junior James Robinson and sophomore Daniel Fretz, that was fifth at the event with a time of 41.59 seconds.
Also in the 100-meter dash, Akinkuotu was sixth at 10.69 seconds, while Fretz was eighth in the finals of the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.96 seconds.
For the women, in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles, junior Taylor Graham was fifth and freshman Kerrie Davis was eighth.
Sophomore Anna Gillespie was ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.13, followed closely by junior Amira Chowyuk in 11th at 2:17.58.
