Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season Sunday afternoon by a count of 5-1 over Mercer in the Adidas/Wolfpack Classic held at Method Road this weekend. After going into the half with a 1-0 lead, NC State exploded for four goals in a 25-minute span in the second half. Freshman Ronnie Bouemboue had two goals and an assist, and senior Bryant Salter added a goal and an assist.
NC State would strike first at the 24:53 mark in the first half. Sophomore Ernesto Di Laudo's shot on goal was deflected to the right, and Bouemboue came from his midfield position to net his first career goal. The Pack held a 1-0 lead at the half.
Bouemboue would strike again at the 63:13 mark for his second goal of the day. Salter won the ball on the left wing and found Bouemboue at the top of the penalty box, and his shot curved into the upper right corner of the net. Salter would then collect his own goal in the 72nd minute after he dribbled through the Mercer defense for a breakaway goal.
Senior Aaron King would be the next Pack player to score. Passes from Bouemboue and junior Santiago Fusilier set up King's breakaway goal, his third goal in as many games this year. Di Laudo added the final goal in the 83rd minute.
Mercer's Del Olaoye ruined NC State keeper Aaron Sanders' with his goal in the 87th minute.
NC State will travel to Duke next weekend and compete in the Duke/Adidas Classic. The Pack will take on No. 5 St. John's Friday night, and play College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon.
