
Wolfpack Men Drop Tight Road Match, 4-3

College Park, Md.--The Wolfpack men's tennis team battled hard against the Maryland Terrapins, but dropped its second straight 4-3 ACC match on the road in College Park. The Wolfpack drops to 4-17 overall and 0-6 in ACC action, while Maryland moves to 7-7 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
For the second consecutive match, the Wolfpack fought valiantly in doubles play, but ultimately lost the point when senior Matt Lucas and freshman R.J. Murray were nipped in a tight match 9-8 (7-5) at No. 1.
Trailing 1-0 heading into singles action, NC State took a 3-2 lead of when senior Ryan Boward (3-6, 6-4, 6-3), Murray (6-4, 6-2) and senior Shane Sealy (6-1, 6-1) all posted victories.
After Maryland's David Reichsfeld topped the Wolfpack's Jon Davis at No. 6 (6-1, 6-3), Lucas found himself in another critical situation as the Wolfpack's fortunes rested on the Boone, N.C. native's shoulders against Terp freshman Haris Causevic at No. 1.
Lucas won the first set handily (6-3),but dropped the second frame (3-6) before surrendering the third set tiebreaker 7-4.
The Wolfpack's next match will be at home on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Wolfpack Tennis Center.
